Who we are.
At Wild Manchester, we have an interest in all things about nature. It’s something we would like to share with other people of like minds or are just starting to re-attune themselves back with nature.
We are not a charity or organization, and we receive no financial aid, the website is completely free to use, and we hope to keep it that way. At Wild Manchester, we are passionate about nature and the work we do with this website. This is why we have put a lot of research and knowledge into the content. We are by no means experts, but then who ever said you needed to be an expert to want to learn and live with nature?
How we interact with nature
We live in Manchester and have done all our lives. Fortunately we live around large parks, Waterways and large lakes where there is lots of nature to explore with plenty to research about the flora and fauna.
At Wild Manchester, we interact with nature every day. I walk Echo our dog twice a day around the local woods, we keep chickens, grow our own food and generally appreciate nature such as the smell of flowers and the sounds of birds. All of which produce a natural calming effect. For me personally, I have taught myself foraging skills, basic knowledge of wild medicine and some crafting skills, all of which I enjoy very much and I have found nature to be a healer, and you could too.
You will find plenty of nature related articles on all kinds of topics like weaving baskets from brambles to making washing detergent from Ivy plus much more. Everything on this Website can be found in Manchester or surrounding areas, and it’s all FREE!!!, so what’s stopping you?
Resources
Included on some of the pages are recommendations and links to research resources for children and adults, you can also find many videos from YouTube created by other enthusiasts of nature and natural living. Mother Nature is making a comeback, so get ahead of the game and start learning.
So what's all the fuss about?
Well in today’s climate of hustle and bustle, most of us have lost something, a gift that was given to us at birth. Yet you can find it right on your doorstep, and it is waiting to greet you with open arms. What is it? You ask, well, we have lost our ability to connect to Mother Nature or Mother Earth; however, you want to call her. The frequency of Mother Earth induces calm and a still mind, this is because she is an electromagnetic being – and so are we!
We are made of the same stuff. Not surprisingly, then, when we connect with nature, our energetic frequency begins to oscillate the same frequency as the Earth. We attune to her heartbeat, her breath, and she cradles us with good vibrations, just as the song goes by the Beach Boys.
So what has happened?
We have become disconnected from nature, our ability to be dependent on ourselves and to take responsibility for our own food and our environment are pushed aside. Modern life is a constant roundabout of trying to survive in a concrete jungle and mountains of bills. The numerous temptations of material goods sold to us by persuasive adverts and clever marketing has seduced us away and diverted our attention into a wasteful materialistic world instead of an organic, self-sustaining lifestyle.
How can we fix it?
To find our way back to nature, it is a good start if you Just go to a park and sit on the grass listening to the birds, observing the trees and flowers. Just reading a book sat in the summer Sun will reduce stress levels. Try sitting on a bench close your eyes and clear your mind feel the wind listen to the leaves on the trees. It will help clear your mind of any worries even if for a short time.
Mother Nature is a healer, you just need to attune yourself to her to benefit from her natural medicine. Your mind is constantly chitter chatting with the trials and tribulations of life it never stops. But an hour in nature and emptying your mind will keep it still and quiet. It will be attuned to nature and balanced, it’s easy, it’s free and healing, so make some time for yourself and nature and get bonding.
To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug. —Helen Keller
