Reconnecting to nature together

Blossom - health through activity

The aim of Blossom is to promote wellbeing through positive activity, reconnecting people with the food we eat and the enjoyment of nature. Along with their valued volunteers the Blossom team has a wealth of experience working in Wythenshawe and South Manchester and pride themselves on supporting people to build confidence to make lasting change to their lives.

At the heart of Blossom is the desire for people to be happier and healthier. The food we consume has a direct impact on health and family budgets. Blossom offers food growing workshops and opportunities to learn to cook from scratch. A love of nature, the environment and sharing how personal lifestyle changes can impact climate change is also a key direction for Blossom.

Why not join Us

If you enjoy the great outdoors and would like to join us at the Horticultural Centre in Wythenshawe Park, we have great volunteer opportunities to keep the gardens and food growing beds looking fantastic.

Inside the Horticultural Centre the tropical gardens need ongoing love and attention. Tending plants and watching them change and grow across the seasons is a great way to de stress, take a breath from hectic lives and meet new friends.

There are many academic studies to show that looking after plants is good for you in many ways: providing light exercise, topping up vitamin D by being in sunlight and the focus on positive community activity can lead to a sense of achievement and belonging.

Blossom offers flexible opportunities across the week including Saturday mornings. This could be the start to a great weekend giving something back to this much-loved community venue.

Across the seasons Blossom is offering educational workshops to show you how to grow food and be more sustainable. Did you know there are lots of fruit and vegetables that grow happily in pots, so you won’t need a massive garden or allotment to enjoy fresh zero carbon footprint produce.

Blossom will provide the support you need to get the most out of your food growing and will share easy and cheap ways to set up at home. Mini allotments for small groups to cultivate food are available in the park. A great start for people on the allotment waiting list.

Based in beautiful Wythenshawe Park, give yourself a fresh challenge by learning some new skills or just an opportunity to make new friends and socialise more. Why not come along and find out what’s on offer? Time for your untapped skills to BLOSSOM…..
